The need to be more active
Research shows that thousands of Hounslow residents are simply not doing enough exercise for good health despite warnings that a lack of regular exercise can lead to increased risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes, stroke and some cancers.
Now Hounslow Council has partnered with mobile phone app BetterPoints to try and turn the tide on the issue.
We’re encouraging residents across the borough to download the free BetterPoints App on their smart mobile phone. It works by totting-up ‘BetterPoints’ for being active or attending certain health services and Lampton Leisure centres. Points can then be spent at local businesses and Council owned leisure centres or donated to local charities.
Rewards are given for activities like going for a walk, a cycle, or run, and the App will keep residents up-to-date on ways to earn more rewards through community initiatives such as walking groups and litter picking or joining OneYou Hounslow’s Health services.
As an extra bonus, if you sign up to the One You Hounslow challenge between now and 8th August you will be entered into a prize draw for a £25 Love2Shop Voucher.
